University Health will be hosting vaccination clinics for kids ages 6 months to 5 years...

Ezra Von Allmen recovers with a sticker during a vaccination clinic on Thursday sponsored by University Health at its Robert B. Green campus downtown. With him is his mother, Lauren Von Allmen.Ezra burst into tears as the needle entered his thigh. Even the promise of a sticker and brightly patterned Band-Aid couldn’t soothe the toddler. Back in the waiting room, still crying, the 2-year-old begged his mom, Lauren Von Allmen, to hold him.

Families trickled into the campus pharmacy Thursday morning. Denyse De Luna, an architect, and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, arrived around 10 a.m., some 45 minutes before Von Allmen and Ezra. Both vaccinations took no more than 10 minutes, according to De Luna. While her sons waited the requisite 15 minutes on-site after vaccination, De Luna, who is nine months pregnant, said the news of the authorization had come as a relief to her amid a spike in transmissions.
