Board found the city failed to properly accommodate a mental health disability.

The 2020 arbitration decision found the city wrongfully terminated an employee from the Lawson Civic Centre in 2016. The employee’s name is redacted from the published decision, in order to protect his privacy.

A psychiatrist worked with the employee in 2012, and he was reinstated as a full-time custodian at Lawson Heights. The worker returned from his suspension in September 2016. Another series of conflicts arose within his first week back, including a profanity-laced tirade in which he called his supervisor a Nazi.
