Anyone with monkeypox symptoms should not attend Pride event this weekend says London's top public-health doctor

Monkeypox is in the same family of viruses as smallpox but much less severe.

The virus has not previously been described as a sexually transmitted infection but can be passed on by close contact. The virus has been around for years, mostly in remote parts of Central and West Africa. The most recent outbreak is unusual. In recent months, there have been cases in more than 25 countries outside this region, including many in Europe, with the highest levels in the UK.It was time for clear messages, Prof Fenton told BBC News.

"If you think you may have monkeypox - blisters, fevers, swollen glands - please do not go out over the weekend," he said.Prof Fenton expects a further rise in cases in coming weeks as it can take time for symptoms to appear."I never thought it would be something that I would get," he told BBC journalist Nick Raikes.

Dan said he had felt tired and nauseous before developing "blister spots", which spread across his genitals and lower body, becoming very painful.

Sadiq Khan supports minority groups but has little interest in the majority of London people.

What about Covid symptoms?

Take the kids, men bumming in public, used condoms everywhere, freaks dressed as animals, great day out😭😭😭

The gnats are biting. How do I tell the difference?

Or generally anywhere other than medical attention.

I thought you couldn't catch it through casual contact like that?

The dildo monkey from the children's library is going to be pissed.

Why?

Nah, come on out! Have some fun! All the people with Covid will be there, so why souldn't you?

Whatever has this gay campaign cost our NHS, first HIV now MonkeyPox as well as the seemingly fashionable trend of having your “bits” altered ?

They won’t be listening to the police

Geoff is gutted.

Are they ok to go to Wimbledon or football matches or any other event of large gatherings of people though? Oh wait, Glastonbury, the advice only last weekend was to be 'mindful of the disease',not to stay home 🤷‍♀️ stir up a bit more hatred towards the gay community why don't you

Yes shingles can be very nasty, just one more reason not to get the vax!

Haha, the big event! 🐒😂

Anyone with monkeypox symptoms should not attend Wimbledon or the F1 event this weekend says London's top public-health doctor

Could be a potential super spreader event n safer to cancel it ?

if they do there going to swing

Probably, all of them.

ProfKevinFenton Did the trick you to the statement, or are you deliberately drawing a link between Pride and MonkeyPox? You know, as a prominent BAME rep and London Health rep.

should not attend is all i see lol

Chronic botulism is ok tho…

That disgusting event should not be happening!!!! We need the old days back quickly as these freaks are getting out of control. It’s not ok and it’s absolutely vile

Monkeypox is the only STD you’re not allowed to call an STD because it makes a certain group of people look bad.

This is a typical virtue signalling thing for virtue signalling twats. The article is on BBC News Tells Lies, shows the LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 flag and talks about the narrative of staying at home with the latest craze, monkeypox. If this isn’t virtue signalling, what is?

Missed the same advice for Wimbledon events..
