Nutrition warnings coming to the front of pre-packaged food in Canada

But ground meat will be exempt from the labels, after ranchers groups objected to Health Canada's proposal earlier this month.

The new labels will complement, rather than replace, the more detailed nutrition information that's typically on the back of food packaging. Packaged foods deemed to have health benefits in spite of high levels of these nutrients, including ground meat and milk, won't include the labels. The rules are set to come into force at the beginning of 2026, which the government says gives companies ample time to manage the costs of adjusting their packaging.

I’m not going to stress about warnings on food labels because by winter there will be little food on the grocery store shelves and what there is I won’t be able to afford to buy anyway!

I've been sayig for over two years: if the government really cared about our health half the stuff at the grocery store would be illegal.

Begs the question...why are they even making unhealthy food? It's all 'food waste' and a large part of our huge environmental problems. 'Global food system is broken, say world’s science academies'

Maybe instead of warning people how bad processed food is we should look at solving one of the biggest health issues in society today and force food producers to take all of the addictive and unhealthy garbage out of processed food
