Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick sees his $50 million request for bullet-proof shields funded in budget transfer.
The funding comes a little more than a month after an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in the worst school shooting in Texas’ history. The money will be transferred to various state agencies and programs and includes $5 million broken out specifically for the Uvalde community to be used by the mental health authority that oversees the city and surrounding community. The other remaining $100.5 million will be allocated to the following initiatives:$5.
