Hospital wait times are at a record high. Doctors say emergency departments are under more stress than ever. Safe to say, our hospital system is overrun. So, where do we stand now? Opinion by Ruby Latif

. Simply put, the measures once used to protect us from the spread of this virus have since been abandoned.

He added that “there is a significant understaffing crisis, as well as significant health-care worker burnout, which is often manifesting as moral injury and compassion fatigue. This has created a ‘perfect storm’ situation where we are seeing a health-care system that is under severe strain.”

NaheedD fordnation DO SOMETHING!! SylviaJonesMPP OntHospitalAssn PublicHealthON release the BOOSTERS!! Fund healthcare!!!!

davidpugliese its a mess but providing more sick days wont help ER's ...

CanadianNormal Exactly where we stood on June 2.

It's been overrun for over 30 years!!....you're right where you've always been. Nurses have been sounding the alarms to deaf ears.

We all know the facts dumping the unvaxed then cry for staff. And most whom are in the hospitals are the vaxxed

My doctor is still not seeing patients in person so her patients have no choice but to go to emergency to be seen by doctors. I suggest that any phone in doctors be paid reduced fees bc it’s putting more pressure in an already stressed healthcare system.

It’s always about the money folks 🤷🏾‍♂️

The Toronto Star helped elect this crappy CONSERVATIVE government. If only you had asked tough questions and reported on Ford failures before the election. CdnMediaFailed

Rationed Socialized Healthcare Has repercussions And, it’s not *free in Canada We overpay for inferior outcomes and service. Healthcare has been politicized and kicked around for decades by unqualified incompetent politicos.

Family doctors, open your practices full-time. Enough theatre

Instead of limiting the number of doctors/nurses who can work in ER at one time, why not let it be open season for as many staff as possible?

Best H/C system in the world right?

And you are surprised? Duh - repeat Covid infections wreaking havoc along with ruined immunity of boosted population while staffing is critical as mandates and poor working conditions have caused many to leave. Directly result of catastrophic govt policies

I can’t take the star seriously when they advocated so hard for mandates, which resulted in thousands of HCWs loosing their jobs 🤷🏼‍♂️

naheedD LOL

? what provinces? what towns? what cities? Hospital wait times for what? emergency-surgery-tests-doctor consults ? dont buy it for one minute

Drop the fucking mandates and get people back to work!

Same place we stood in 2017, and many years before. The only difference now is Pfizer et al are stealing all the funds...

It's a good thing Trudeau is bringing in more than 1.5million more people a year between immigration, foreign students, and TFWs, plus the parents and grandparents of immigrants. 63 million more immigrants by 2100 should help, right CI2100? Riiiiight.

Looks like public healthcare isn't what the left pretends it is. We spend more in taxes per family on healthcare than Americans do for insurance. Our system is bloated and incompetent, just like everything else the government runs and subsidizes, such as the media.

Lets have a year of lockdowns, this will prevent accidents and relieve the pressure on the healthcare system

Is there a place for private companies in Canadian health care? With a family doctor shortage across the country, doctors and advocates fear if systemic issues aren’t resolved, private care will keep pulling physicians out of the public system and widen the chasms in care. Twelve years ago, Nathan March dropped his plans to become a student pilot due to migraines and stomach pain. Because his symptoms persisted, he kept researching and trying different doctors and even naturopaths, with little luck. No No there isn't and I'll thank you to keep that American style nonsense out of Canada.

‘Winging it’: Trans health-care coverage spotty, hard to navigate across Canada | Globalnews.caAdvocates hope provinces follow Yukon's lead and cover gender-affirming procedures like facial feminization and laser hair removal. Experts also want more providers offering care. Health care in Canada is screwed, the provinces have been driving it into the ground. Last time I checked all Canadians had equal opportunity to health care. I’m in an accident, get hurt, get sick - I go to the hospital. That’s true for everyone. Hey, most people have to line up in the hospital hallways to get life-saving healthcare. Others have to wait months to get cancer treatments. I don’t think cutting off your genitals should be a healthcare priority.
