Paul Reid told RTÉ's This Week that"it would be a mistake" for the minister to use his powers under Section 10 of the Health Act to direct the Health Service Executive to call a halt to its plans.
Among those who have expressed concerns about the plans are the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee, who is also a TD for the area. The HSE says it is providing additional resources to the hospital in Drogheda, and to the National Ambulance Service to address these concerns. Mr Reid said the minister had not used ministerial powers to stop the reconfiguration of the ED in Navan.
Of course it would be!!!!! After all the Minster for Health already cut the funding and staff Levels for the ER!!!!!
The HSE is a shambles. Those at its helm try to make reforms but are hindered by spineless politicians, greedy consultants and a public who tolerate poor services, knowing those can afford it, have the safety net of private healthcare. Well done Paul!
We either build our health system around clinical need/patient safety, or we leave it to rot in a system of parish pump, political patronage Politicians (national and local) have no expertise in health, housing, or utility infrastructure planning, and should stay the F out of it
