In a statement, Mikko Karna urged “citizens to boycott Turkish holiday trips, Turkish kebab restaurants and Turkish-made cars until Turkey has given its approval to Finland’s NATO membership”.over Kurdish political groups whom Erdogan views as terrorist organizations.
The Kurds are an Indo-European people, about 30 million strong, and one of the world’s largest ethnic groups without a state of their own. Their homeland is divided among Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, has fought Turkish forces on and off since the mid-1980s as it seeks an autonomous region for Kurds inside Turkey.
Edrogan wants the two Nordic countries to publicly denounce the PKK and its affiliates, and is also demanding an end to arms-export restrictions that Sweden and Finland imposed on Turkey in late 2019 in conjunction with many other EU countries after Turkey sent its army into Syria. “Turkey’s insults are, of course, Erdogan’s cold power game, and I am absolutely convinced that Finland and Sweden will be accepted into NATO in Turkey without any problems,” Karna stated.Article content
