Students and staff at a high school in Sydney have potentially been exposed to asbestos for years after receiving an incorrect negative result.

There are fears the health of thousands of students may have been"severely compromised" over a four-year period following the detection of asbestos at a Sydney high school.

"I was made aware last month of allegations regarding mismanagement of asbestos in 2016 at Castle Hill High School," she said. He said complaints to the department remain unanswered and that teachers and students believe their health may have been severely compromised.
