With Roe v. Wade apparently under threat by the Supreme Court, some have speculated whether LDS Church leaders might seize the moment to tighten the faith’s policies or clarify its theology regarding abortion. Will they?

True, current events might have pushed abortion onto center stage for the American public. But Young believes the topic, for Latter-day Saint leaders, remains a “secondary political concern.”takes this line of thinking even further.

“That is the new standard,” the self-described former “paid culture warrior for the church” explained, noting that some apostles have been quicker to get behind the new program than others. “They’re going to say what they’ve always said,” she said, “which is human life is sacred, born and unborn, and we should not take life.”

'Nelson stressed ... “that a new life begins when two special cells unite to become one cell,” ... “to legislate when a developing life is considered ‘meaningful’ is presumptive and quite arbitrary, in my opinion.”' that's, uhm ... quite contradictory

Thank you Church leaders.

Mr. Nelson is mistaken

~1 in 4 pregnancies unfortunately end in miscarriage, the mother’s health is at risk if she is not able to get prompt medical treatment. 25% is not ‘vanishingly rare’. Legislation shouldn’t complicate the grief & sadness of loss and add fear for mother’s health/life.

Grifting for 'spirit babies'.

2%, 1 in 50 pregnancies are ectopic. These assholes who call that rare have no business shaping public policy.

so, what's a few dead women as long as this guy can sleep at night.

Ectopic pregnancies alone account for about 1 in 50 pregnancies. 'Vanishingly rare' has a weird definition in this religion.

They should spend some time in L&D up at the University hospital, maybe that'll will give them some insight

No one is deciding what women can do with their bodies. We're saying what you can't do to a baby's body.

In a country that has the worst newborn and maternal mortality rate in the developed world.

Thank goodness Gayle Ruzika is there to tell us what the church won’t do and what they really mean by the exceptions.

The Old Testament, which the LDS churchs gives primacy to much of its doctrine, says that life begins with the first breath of an infant.

My wife has had 2 pregnancies and both have almost cost her life and the life of our 3 kids. The kids stayed a total of 160 days in the NICU and she personally was in the hospital for 80 days. High risk pregnancies happen way more often than people think…

Nelson still living in the 1850s.

Men ought not even address women's healthcare issues except to be supportive.

Separation of church and state. These white males should not be allowed to dictate and control the rights of women.

He needs to worry about the soft swap Mormon tik tok swinger mom groups scattered all over the Utah valley. They are alive and well Pres 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Give unto God, what is God's. Give unto Republicans, what are women's rights.

A church notorious for subjugating women is anti-choice?

“Thou shalt not kill nor do anything like unto it.” Doctrine and Covenants 59:6.

It doesn’t matter what they say or think. They’re men and it’s a woman’s body. Enough said!

The policy is crystal clear.

They're Mormons. Men control women PERIOD!!!

I recall being told that the soul enters the body at birth, so what would be the issue?

Men should not have a say what women do with their bodies! MyBodyMyChoice

The misogyny of the radical right is breathtaking. They can regulate a uterus but not guns. smh.

No The Church will only reaffirm what they have said in the past which supports and values women and healthcare professionals. It is the GOP that has changed to align with Satan's original plan of forced servitude and lack of free will.

I hope so. Killing babys is wrong.

Three old white men from one of the most conservative sects of Christianity changing their minds and view points? The question answers itself. Of course not. When your radical right view is so extreme, chances are not likely

Cult leaders will do … to be continued.
