Mental health is on a long list of factors conservatives have focused on in the wake of the Uvalde shooting.

A Texas Public Safety officer walks in front of a memorial outside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Thursday, two days after a school shooting left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott repeatedly raised the spectre of mental health at a news conference about the recent massacre of schoolchildren in his state. Gun control? Abbott brushed off the idea it might help reduce mass shootings, saying 18-year-olds in Texas have had access to long guns for decades. Abbott instead highlighted worsening mental health: "We as a state and society need to do a better job with mental health."

What a bunch of crock. Mental problems my a-se. It's their gun loving culture and the nra loving Republicans.

Guns, why do common people need guns? How many more lives will it take to actually stop the gun lobby?! How many more parents are to suffer lifelong with just memories of their little ones? How many more sociopathic individuals will it take to STOP THE GUNS?

...along with every rețard.

Mental health, AND easy access to guns. Remember, guns don't kill people. Mentally unstable people kill people. Simply banning guns will NOT solve this issue. To those of you who think it does, you are not helping to solve this problem.

“The outlier there is not mental health problems, it's access to guns.' This has already been proven to be false. The 10 year restriction that started in the early 90s was later found to have no affect on gun violence. That’s the data. The US is rotting.

Why is mental health always thought to be the issue?

Excuses, not factors.

Missing from this 'list' is actually gun control.

There is little data to say these individuals have mental illness. Socially inept - sure. On a crisis cycle - sure. Playing violent video games? Little social connections - sure? Disenfranchised - maybe. Mentally ill? Find me the research.

If they're okay with kids being mowed down so they can keep their toy guns, they'll have no problem stigmitizing the mentally ill with misdirection.

I’ll break it down for you…the problem is guns and men

The amount of legal firearm owners VS this. Should be very telling. This is not a gun problem. If it were a gun problem. Mass shootings would be a daily occurrence.Being soft on gun crime is a huge problem.

It's not about mental health...it about assault weapons.

And how the F*** is that working for you?

AdoptingUniversalHealthcare will stop more gun violence than more gun laws. Systemic, public health problem.Answers question 'Why only inUSA?'

It’s not a gun problem. It’s a sick, satanic culture problem. “In the good ol’days” kids learned how to shoot guns in school and brought their own to school. Guns have never been the issue because if you “take” away the guns people will use knives or cars to kill.

That's ironic since most conservatives are in desperate need of mental health care as they believe in one of many thousands of fictional deities.

Love how CBC invariably gives Democrats a pass on their inaction to address gun violence👍

If mental health is the problem then why this?

It's all useless if they don't start with controlling the guns - the accessibility, availability and necessity of them.

Lots of illegal guns come through the southern border. 🤔

We manufacture weapons equipment in Canada and ship them off to other countries. There are jobs in it. Violence on tv and video games. There are jobs in it. Guns. You guessed it.

What part of this makes sense? How did an 18 year old living with his grandmother have 2 BRAND NEW Daniel Defense AR15 rifles, worth almost $5000, plus ammo, plus optics body armor AND a $70,000 F250 pick-up?

Then maybe they should stop radicalizing kids on Fox news.

Yeah. Everything except the guns
