Ann Byrne says that her husband, Javier, was diagnosed with terminal cancer two weeks after she gave birth to their first child.She explained that there were no signs beforehand that would lead them to believe he had a tumour.Javier, who was originally from Spain, and Ann welcomed their daughter Elisabeth on 1 May 2020.

“He got out of hospital on the 26th of May and it was just after the June bank holiday weekend 2020 that he was told he had Glioblastoma Multiforme which is Grade 4 terminal cancer.” “That’s quite jarring in normal circumstances but we had a two month old. It was a horrendous time and it was during the lockdown.”“We got a scan done in February 2021 and we were told the tumour had actually grown and he had to have another brain surgery.

The family moved to Madrid as Javier hoped there would be other treatment options, however, Ann explains that he was too weak.
