The Canadian Press has learned that the NDP is promising to hire 10,000 personal support workers and give them a raise of at least $2 an hour.
The Progressive Conservative government raised PSW wages by $3 an hour during the pandemic, and the NDP says they would increase that even further. New Democrats also pledge to hire 30,000 nurses, expedite credential recognition for 15,000 internationally trained nurses and create new jobs for late-career and recently retired nurses who can mentor and supervise.The party says the goal is to shorten wait times for patients and help health-care workers avoid burnout.
Where is common sense. Hire back the people that were and are being fired for not jabbing. The military is losing great techs. Crushing families financially. It’s gross and disgusting. I’m a veteran and can’t take a train or plane in my county, but I can go on a bus.

There aren't 10,000 PSWs to hire. We have tried everything to hire PSWs. Who wants to work in Healthcare for $20/hour, when you can go work at McDonald's for $16 and not have to put up with the abuse from patients and family members?

How can they hire new PSW when they currents ones can’t have a full time job. Why did they think covid spread like wild fire? Health Care workers were moving from location to locations.

Good luck. Currently being a PSW in Ontario is the worst career choice, imho. Be prepared to be treated like a dog and paid like a serf. Until private companies offering PSW services are abolished, there will always be a race to the bottom for government contracts.
There ARE NOT 10,000 ppl wanting into this profession. It’s not just about the money. They know they’ll be in a perpetual career of back breaking work with no full time or benefits. FIX IT FIRST. THEN THEY’ll FOLLOW

Well this would be good considering we haven't had an in home PSW in over 2 years. I can't logistically believe this will happen though.
Curious. From where ? Training ? Living ? Remember the PSW that were there were not very good. Not all but ….. This issue was ongoing while they were there.

It doesn't really matter if you are just paying them 15-16 bucks an hour. PSWs need livable wages especially going through tough times and still being underpaid
