Former INTERFET commander Sir Peter Cosgrove denies any senior New Zealand military officials raised concerns with him about the treatment of detainees by Australian soldiers in East Timor.

Why? Might he be found out to have known about war crimes?

He knew.

This is the same nz that odered a father to be vaccinated before he can see his kids !!!!

I mean we are allies they should have informed the adf about the investigation but come on if they felt the need to do an investigation (and keep it secret) into a close ally then there's seriously something wrong.

Considering the atrocities of the Indo military in Timor I think it's ridiculous to be deliberately trying to find / fabricatite wrongdoing by Aust troops

Honestly, the ABC must be way over staffed to spend time with this 23 year old drivel. Look around the world today, see the major problems and consign this kind of rubbish to the dustbin of total irrelevance.

Correct me if I am wrong. Did not this erudite news service have independent observers embedded.

A lot of 'call of duty' experts out there

As a neighboring nation(not a part of the Australian commonwealth) and even though allies NZ signed UN charters along with Australia

I'm dismayed that anyone would be surprised tbh, the military almost near tortures some of it own people in some instances, they don't teach empathy. No wonder they think it's OK to do it to their enemy.

Dismayed that it could be a fact...

Well if NZ knew... why didn't the Australian Govt know ..shows people how the Liberals just closed their eyes to this crisis

JohnMil37229625 Really..I know who I believe..

Ah, dismayed by the probe. He ought to be dismayed by the allegations

Never TRUST New Zealanders , from experience

Garbage!

I'd say Cosgrove is especially 'concerned' about himself and his reputation. How could he not know.

Of course he’s dismayed. He was bloody in charge.

might have been to close to home sadly!

It was an investigation that led to no charges being laid, why would the ABC mention these allegations & investigation? It was a rhetorical question the ABC do like to rake up muck on the Aussie military under the guise of journalism & then they wonder about their low ratings🤦‍♂️

Auntie with the usual pre ANZAC day military scandal! TNI were militia and militia were East Timories and not to many raod blocks got ignored after this! DefundTheABC Lawyers trying to overstate their importance need to start serving on the front lines.

Cosgrove is dismayed at a New Zealand secret investigation? Cosgrove SHOULD BE dismayed that NZ thought there was something that needed investigation, secret or otherwise!

make sure they don't investigate Iraq
