Irish dog owners have been warned as cases of the dangerous Alabama rot has been identified in the UK and has killed five dogs so far this year.

What is Alabama rot? According to Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists, Alabama rot, also known as CRGV is a very rare, potentially life-threatening disease in dogs, causing damage to the blood vessels in the skin and sometimes the kidney. CRGV can affect any dog, whatever age or breed. The breeds most affected have been Labradors, spaniels and Hungarian vizslas.
