Robert Watt 'has to get at least a slap on the wrist' for the Holohan controversy, former general-secretary of the Labour Party Ray Kavanagh says. NTBreakfast

"It's absolutely astonishing - this Government has an unbeatable record of when they get into a hole to keep digging, instead of to confront the problem and to deal with it.

"Now they've compounded it by getting the second most-senior civil servant to do a report into himself. "Using his own initiative and his own powers to make low-level appointments in the civil service I suppose that's something that is acceptable.

He should be out on his ear once he's had a good grilling from a Committee

NTBreakfast When he does get a slap on the wrist, it will be with a big gold watch

NTBreakfast Actually He will probably tell the minister for health what way he wants it to be grassed over, it seems contrary to opinion the gov don’t actually run the country but bow to the senior civil service. You don’t pay someone twice your own salary to be in a position lower than you

NTBreakfast Robert watt should really be looking for a new job at this stage.

NTBreakfast They need something to slap now that the damage is done.

NTBreakfast What a slap on the wrist? If this would be in the private sector he would be gone by now

NTBreakfast It's obviously impossible to get sacked from the Civil Service, he'll probably get a rise instead, you couldn't make it up.
