Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is one of 10 'sentinel clinics' that monitor and track diseases with the potential to affect animals, humans and livestock, and deliver data to the federal government for further investigation.

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary collects valuable intelligence on a range of species, some of which are unique to TasmaniaPeople are urged to report wildlife deaths so they can be looked into by a team of specialists

"About 90 per cent of the cases we see are trauma-related and 10 per cent would be a result of infectious diseases or diseases that are not related to humans". "We had never seen those signs before and then suddenly we had two or three possums that presented with it," Mr Kreiss said. "This was a disease we didn't know we had in Tasmania and certainly we didn't think it was prevalent," Mr Kreiss said.

Now the sanctuary is expanding its network and sharing capabilities after it joined a national wildlife surveillance program coordinated by Wildlife Health Australia.

We know a 3rd dose is required to have a large effect on infection & transmission for Omicron. So why would ATAGI deny 12-15s the opportunity to have one? This isn’t requiring vaccination, this is preventing vaccination after the TGA found it was safe.
