The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued the warning to parents after nearly 3,500 cases of scarlet fever were reported between September 2021 and March 2022 in England.

The UK Health Security Agency issued a warning to parents after cases of scarlet fever and chickenpox have started to rise in pre-schools and nurseries.

The two infections together can cause complications for those who catch them. Parents have been warned to lookout for symptoms of the infections which can include a pink or red rash on the skin, a sore throat, headaches and a fever
