Meanwhile, the chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Finance Public Expenditure and Reform said there are still questions to be answered about Dr Holohan's secondment to TCD. Mr McGuinness said it"shows a very poor performance in terms of management from the Secretary General of the Department [Robert Watt], and there are questions that need to be put to him and need to be clarified."

While there’s no denying the significance CMOIreland would make to research etc at tcddublin, an indefinite secondment on that same salary scale is excessive by any measure. Private sector co-financing would have been a better option to fund the position.

What do Trinity staff have to say about this? I know some were in the newspapers stating that TH does not meet any of the basic criteria for a professorship. Not to mention being paid far far more than real professors with proven peer reviewed international scholarship, PhD etc
