PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 12,105 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (April 6), says the Health Ministry.

It said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Thursday that this brings the total number of infections in the country to 4,280,591 cases since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry reported that there were 43 imported Covid-19 infections on Friday, with the remaining 12,062 cases being the result of local transmissions. The CovidNow portal also said that there were 21,029 recoveries on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 162,218 cases.

Of the active cases, 97.6% or 158,343 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 373 people, or 0.3% of the active infections are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres . Only 2.0% of active cases or 3,279 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 221 warded in intensive care units throughout the country.
