It was reported last month that Dr Holohan would be stepping down as the country’s Chief Medical Officer to take up the role as a Professor of Public Health Strategy and Leadership at TCD in July.A spokesperson for Trinity said the new post is an “open-ended secondment” funded by the Department of Health under the same terms as Dr Holohan’s existing contract.
The spokesperson said temporary transfers to another role in a different organisation are a “regular and common feature across the civil and public service to encourage inter-departmental and inter-agency co-operation and the sharing of knowledge and skills in the public interest”.
“The arrangements for the approval of the new Professorship were in line with normal processes and akin in some respects to the creation of a new Professorship funded by a research body.” #Open journalism No news is bad news Support The Journal Your contributions will help us continue to deliver the stories that are important to youThe University Council approved Dr Holohan’s appointment to the role last month after an interview with the selection committee at Trinity College Dublin. He said he witnessed over the past two years “the dedication of colleagues to protecting the health and wellbeing of people across Ireland”.
Taoiseach says he had 'no hand, act or part' in the arrangement of ireland,
Of course! Taoiseach MichealMartinTD only has a hand in northern ireland, ukraine, getting a house for people who have a house, providing good health for people in good health, providing good education for educated people. Everything else, he's not aware of. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Corruption
However what he didn’t say was “Not on my watch!”. 🤯
They do & their holes, closed shop that place
i love socialism!
LiveatOriel Only in Ireland 🇮🇪
Makes no difference. TCD largely funded by the State.
My guess is the department are unhappy with his handling of cervical scandal, his management of COVID crisis and haven’t got the grounds to fire him. So this is the way to get him out of the CMO role
Not saying it's time to leave this country but...
And they say Ireland is not corrupt.
So the taxpayer will pay his 187k salary while he works at Trinity (without a teaching qualification) on the merit of his work experience(overseeing the cervical scandal). Oh and the taxpayer will also have to pay 187k to his replacement. Makes sense.
Special envoy to trinity wha
Unbelievable stuff this. Duffys circus rolls on to the next town
So instead of being held accountable for his handling of the CervicalCheck scandal, Holohan gets a cushy Trinity gig that the college isn't even paying for. The gravy train rides on 🙄
Why?
*The taxpayer* will pay Dr Tony Holohan's salary in new Trinity professor role.
