He has a rare genetic condition

Dublin man David suffered with migraines for ten years - however, him and his family never thought anything of it.

However, he had an ischemic stroke in August 2018, which caused him to have left sided weakness and little functionality in his left hand. It also left him with foot drop and needed a splint to walk and left him with severe spasticity. It was then discovered that CADASIL which is a non treatable genetic condition that constricts the small blood vessels in the brain and causes strokes. Since his initial stroke, David has had two more - one in March 2019, and another recently last month.His wife, Orla, told RSVP Live: "His last stroke was a brainstem stroke, and it affects your vision and your balance.

"He had total double vision and he couldn't see anything properly and he was very unstable on his feet."The family are hoping to bring Dave to a state of the art neurological physio clinic in the UK for four to six weeks during the summer. They will have to relocate to the UK for the duration of the physio."He's very positive and self motivated. He gets through and he pushes on for myself and our two sons. He's doing it for them.
