The high-profile McGrath Foundation will be given $39.8 million over three years to expand a program delivering specialist nursing support to breast cancer patients, as part of a $330.6 million package to improve the health of women and girls.Getty, slightly below the $351.6 million of measures announced last year, comes as the federal government is trying to appeal to female voters dismayed over its attitude towards women in the Parliament.
“Women have maternal healthcare needs, experience higher rates of chronic illness and different patterns of disease as they age, and are more likely to experience family, domestic and sexual violence.” The government will also invest $58.3 million to improve the treatment, management and diagnosis of endometriosis and provide $23 million over four years to support families who have experienced stillbirth or miscarriage and to respond to the national stillbirth action and implementation plan.
