A Queensland police officer has been suspended from duty after being charged with child exploitation and indecent treatment offences.
The Queensland Police Service said the 39-year-old male senior constable from North Coast Region, which includes the Sunshine Coast, was arrested and taken to the Maroochydore watch house today. He was charged with eight counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two counts of involving a child in making child exploitation material and one count of possession of child exploitation material.
The senior constable has since been released on bail and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court next month."In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct," the statement said.
