PETALING JAYA: Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan recorded more than 50% intensive care unit (ICU) bed usage due to Covid-19 on Saturday (Feb 19), the Health Ministry said.

In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ICU utilisation rate in Johor is 70%, while in Kuala Lumpur it is 64% and 50% in Kelantan.

Aside from this, eight states have more than 50% occupancy rates at Covid-19 low risk quarantine centres . The number of Covid-19 patients requiring breathing assistance has gone up to 130, with ventilator usage now at 37%. “However, all states have prepared a quick response plan if the capacity of its health facilities gets full,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
