But wait, there’s more: Aussie curlers get late reprieve after Beijing reversal | geerob

Australian curling duo Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt will play on in the Winter Olympics after an eleventh-hour reversal from Chinese authorities over a series of positive COVID-19 test results.

The pair will play Switzerland on Sunday afternoon as scheduled after Australian officials continued to press their case that Gill should be allowed to continue competing under the “close contact” protocols she had observed all week. Australian Olympic Committee officials were able to argue that the positive result was the last traces of the virus after Gill contracted it in Canada last month. This allowed her to stay in competition and be managed as a “close contact”.

Earlier in the day, the AOC had announced the consecutive positive results would force them to withdraw.
