Once Covid booster rate picks up, MOH will endorse borders reopening, says Khairy

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says though the Covid-19 booster administration rate has surpassed 50% among the adult population, he is waiting for a further increase before recommending that international borders reopen. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, February 3, 2022.

THE Health Ministry will only make recommendations to the government on the reopening of the country’s borders and relaxing the requirements on quarantine period when the booster vaccination among the adult population and Covid-19 vaccination for kids show improved rates. Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said although the booster vaccination rate among adults had surpassed 50% as of today, he still wants to see a higher number before making any recommendations.
