The cells of adult frogs seem to remember how to regrow lost legs, and a new chemical kick starter helps them hop to it.the body to regrow limbs to help people that have undergone an amputation . Like adult humans, fully grown frogs have a limited ability to replace lost body parts.
Levin’s team amputated the right back legs of 115 adult African clawed frogs at the knee. Roughly one-third of those frogs received “BioDomes,” silicone sleeves that cover the wound. To another third of the frogs, researchers attached BioDomes holding a silk-based gel that contained five chemicals, including a growth hormone, a nerve growth promoter and an anti-inflammatory substance. The BioDomes stayed on for 24 hours and then were removed from the frogs’ legs.
A silicone sleeve called a BioDome capped the wounds of some frogs that had limbs amputated at the knee.In animals that received the drug cocktail, “around the four-month mark, we started to see a slight difference in the leg shape,” says Nirosha Murugan, a cancer biologist now at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. “With time, that bud … started to take shape into a whole leg.”
After 18 months, the frogs that received the chemicals had regrown the limbs and had nubs where toes would typically grow. The amputees kicked, stood and pushed off the walls of their tanks using their regrown legs, Levin says.articles, delivered to your inbox
“Instead of treating symptoms, you could literally cure a disease.” ❤❤❤
Ha kinda like starfish? Just not actively using the mechanism.
Great news for French restaurants.
Dude, please watch The Amazing Spiderman. This shit ain't gonna end well
Vat you are saying essentially is that Dr. Frankenstein was on the right track......
Hasn't there already been research with pig bladders that helps with limb regrowth in mammals?
Hey Supertramp we’re coming along.
The French:
Animal experimentation is messed up.
Is it true that lizards can also regrow their tails
Cool.
One frog, having its legs cut off and regrown, over and over, for science, now seeking revenge on the scientists who murdered his family and tortured him.
What ? Like why would anyone fund this
Should be named the 'Deadpool Device'
Great news. You gotta start somewhere, one day this could help countless humans
So..what is next ?🤔
Making frog legs from frog cells solves the food problem,,, in France.
Torturing frogs for what?
We were put here as rulers over them to not destroy this earth we both live in an not to experiment on them wtf is wrong with ppl
all right but is that number one on your goals?
