Muireann O'Connell says she thinks about her dad Brendan all the time and says the 'firsts' in life are tough without him.Muireann says trying to adjust to life without her dad has been tough on her and her siblings, but particularly her mother Marie.

The Ireland AM star says that although the past few months have been hard for her mum, in the grand scheme of things she has been coping well."My parents were really social and I can't remember a night they were in, they were always out playing 45 and bridge. "But she's fiercely independent. She does her own thing and she was always like that. She'd go off on holidays with friends cause dad wouldn't fly.Speaking about her own grief, Muireann finds comfort in seeing bits of her beloved dad's personality in herself."I think about him all the time and try to remember all the good stuff. I can see the bits of myself that are him," she said.

"You never think it's going to happen and when it does it's strange because you just assume that your parents are going to be around forever."
