IJN said in a brief statement that Dr Mahathir underwent the procedure there on Saturday and is expected to be discharged within the next few days based on his clinical progress.
“A team of doctors from IJN and Universiti Malaya Medical Centre carried out the procedure was uneventful and went as planned. “Dr Mahathir is currently recuperating well. He is fully awake and in high spirits,” the statement issued on Sunday read.“Dr Mahathir and Tun Siti Hasmah Ali would like to express their gratitude for all the good wishes and concern from the public,” the statement read.
Dr Mahathir, 96, who is also Parti Pejuang Tanah Air chairman, was admitted to IJN for a full check-up on Dec 16.He was admitted to IJN on Friday for the elective procedure.
