195 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, including 45 Omicron infections

Among the new cases, 146 are locally transmitted, comprising 141 in the community and five in migrant workers' dormitories.The weekly infection growth rate is 0.56, unchanged from Sunday's figure. This refers to the ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before.

The growth rate has remained below 1 since Nov 13. A figure below 1 means that the number of new weekly COVID-19 cases is falling.HOSPITALISATIONS AND VACCINATIONS The intensive care unit utilisation rate is at 52.8 per cent, up from the 43.8 per cent reported on Sunday.In the ICU, seven patients require close monitoring while 29 patients are critically ill.

As of Sunday, 96 per cent of Singapore's eligible population - those aged 12 and above - have completed their full vaccination regimen.

Art test does not specify Omicron. Neither does mild to no symptoms. Still proceed to home quarantine? Existing protocols suggest loopholes for Omicron explosion.

Fully vaccinated or even booster shots can still get Covid-19 & variants. There are definitely breakthrough cases. Vaccination is only one measure. Ventilation of airplanes, enclosed places & buildings must have good filtration like HEPA filters. Wearing masks (N95) also impt.

Fully vaccinated does not mean won't be infected. And this is the price for opening border to many countries. Virus or new variants are out there, you see Europe and UK start lock down again. With so many Omicron local cases, what will happen in the next couple of weeks?
