The Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) has zero coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients, the hospital reported Tuesday, Dec. 14.

“Being the first hospital to attend to the first recorded local transmission of COVID-19 in the Philippines, we are glad to announce that we have ZERO active COVID-19 patients on our COVID-19 floors,” CSMC said in an announcement.

One of the first cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines was recorded in March 2020. The patient was diagnosed in CSMC before being transferred to Research Institute for Tropical Medicine . “The fight against COVID-19 is still a long way to go but by strictly following health protocols, we will get through this together,” the hospital added.

It also expressed gratitude to medical frontliners who have been working “tirelessly since the pandemic started.”
