SINGAPORE — The best way parents can protect their children is to get them vaccinated against Covid-19, said Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary on Tuesday (Dec 14).

Speaking at a press conference by the Government's Covid-19 task force, Dr Puthucheary said that the authorities understand that some parents are concerned about getting their children jabbed.

He noted that the Health Sciences Authority had approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines for"The analysis that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks of getting Covid-19," he said. "There is still a risk of children developing severe disease with some cases requiring hospitalisation, oxygen supplementation and ICU admission," he added.in children every week since mid-October, and some of these children had to be admitted into the ICU.

"Whether they are siblings who are younger and so, not yet eligible for vaccination, or those who are older, such as the grandparents, who even if they are vaccinated, the risks are higher," said Dr Puthucheary.
