Canada’s public health system is stretched “dangerously thin” and action is needed now to remedy systemic issues inflamed by an enduring pandemic, the country’s top doctor says.
detailing how Canada can better prepare for future health challenges, Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says consistent funding, improved data systems and a bolstered public health workforce are needed to ensure that “our post-pandemic future is different than our pre-pandemic past.”

The health system need a lot of work. It was bad before COVID19, it fell down during COVID19 and will remain like this until the government brings the investors and work with them side by side so that all have the care they deserve.

Thank you for supporting Public Health. I have been a Public Health Nurse for the majority of my 40 year nursing career and your description of Public Health staffing is right on point. After H1N1 we were promised more staff and yet our work force continued to decrease.
