This was despite pressure from the U.S. to make good on that previous pledge and arrive at the summit with plans to promise much\u002Dneeded medical personnel and…

“I’m hoping that there might be some spark that will cause Canada to live up to its promises and to its status as a prolific peacekeeper,” said Canadian Forces College professor Walter Dorn, one of Canada’s leading experts on peacekeeping.Defence Minister Anita Anand spoke on Canada’s behalf during the two-day peacekeeping conference, which was originally supposed to be held in person but moved online amid concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

“The peacebuilding fund, the whole idea is that it’s there to sort of put money quickly into peace processes,” he said. “And so the UN will make pretty good use of that $70 million.” Canada had 58 police and military personnel deployed as peacekeepers at the end of October, according to the UN. While that was up from the record low of 34 in August 2020, it was still less than half the number when the Liberals took power in 2015.

Meanwhile, Gowan noted several European countries such as Germany and Denmark stepped up in South Korea with pledges of helicopters and other state-of-the-art military assets. He believed Canada’s failure to do the same marks the end of an era.Article content

Oh goody, just hand out more moolah from the bottomless pockets of those struggling peons as they attempt to keep their heads above water, those wage slaves don't need a roof over their head or food for the family

TRUDOPE thrives on giving away our money !

No money for our veterans but sure he can find $85MM so his international reputation doesn't take too big a hit!

All money is going to pharmaceutical companies & CEO's plus share holders . politicians etc.

As the world laughs at us

Hopes for Canada’s promised return to peacekeeping dashed as liberals pledge money, not troops…. Canada, a 3rd world economy, promised to return to peace keeping with $$$, when they don’t have enough money to protect Canada’s North. What is wrong with that picture?

No way, Justin broke a promise on the world stage, that doesn’t sound right, Canada is back !

More Liberal incompetence

It's the easiest way to be involved but also one that shows the least commitment.

Conservative opposition: “Why aren’t you fighting!?!” Also conservative opposition:”Why aren’t you peacekeeping?!?” 🙄

UN complains Canada doesn’t give enough money so we step that up and now complaining about troops & equipment our own troops don’t get funded.

A very WISE decision. There is no peace to keep.

A wish decision. Canada’s leadership is so screwed up these days, troop deployment is now very risky. And more heads up asses need to roll.

Liberals are cowards

Throwing money around and going into debt is what Justin does best.

Canada’s military is broken and shouldn’t be in any role that could cause further embarrassment to the country.

'.....will hurt Canada’s credibility on the issue for the foreseeable future' ? Canada does not need a repeat of what happened to Major Paeta Hess-von Kruedener. Forget about pressure from the US, they gave Canada dangerous cyclone helicopters! melaniejoly JustinTrudeau CBC

Canada continues to be not back.
