The Office of the Vice President has signed a memorandum of agreement to make COVID-19 pill molnupiravir available to eligible patients.
Vice President Leni Robredo said in a social media post that her office signed an agreement with QualiMed Health Network to provide assistance for referred patients prescribed with molnupiravir, an oral pill used to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 cases. "In the agreement, the OVP will issue a guarantee letter under our special medical assistance program to any qualified patient referred by our volunteer doctors at Bayanihan E-Konsulta. QualiMed facilties will then further assess and prescribe the medicine to the patient," she explained.
According to Robredo, the first shipment of the pill arrived in the country on Nov. 17, the first in Southeast Asia. She also thanked QualiMed for partnering with them to be able to extend aid to more Filipinos.for emergency use authorization from two local pharmaceutical firms for the antiviral drug.
