Acting Chief Health Officer Peter Aitken says there is a 'loophole' in the state's roadmap that would allow Queenslanders to visit hotspot locations interstate and return without being tested for COVID while they are there.

Dr Aitken said a loophole in the rules meant Queenslanders could be tested before leaving, then visit a hotspot and return without being tested in the hotspot being visited."It's certainly not the intent [of the rule].

"That's what we want Queenslanders to do and I think that's what Queenslanders will do — the sensible thing is to have a test after they've been exposed.""There's people out there that will speed on our roads as well, but this is there to protect Queensland and we trust Queenslanders to do the right thing," he said.would become the state's new chief health officer from the middle of next month.
