Health minister promises announcement soon on COVID-19 border measure changes

The federal government will announce changes to COVID-19 prevention measures at the Canadian border “very soon,” Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said Tuesday.

After meeting with fellow cabinet ministers Tuesday, Duclos said the government plans to make an announcement on the border in the coming days. The test requirement for vaccinated travellers at the Canada-U.S border has drawn criticism from business leaders, mayors of border communities, members of the tourism industry and travellers themselves.

The Prime Minister’s Office said premiers agreed with Trudeau that the pandemic is showing worrying signs of taking off again and that they need to remain vigilant.

KenHardie Time to get rid of the test for quick trips. I understand the rule for longer trips, but not for short trips when you can get the test in Canada before leaving. And given they just temporary suspended it for some BC travelers, makes sense to get rid of it permamently.

These ppl cant be produce of Canada making life difficult for its citizens or shd we call it “subjects”

First of all, we shouldn't be giving the US our money, for a test that they don't enforce. Secondly, if you want to risk entering the US, then go ahead, gamble with your money and health.

I would be willing to purchase a rapid test to take within an hour of arriving at border crossing back into Canada! As long as it’s available to everyone! And affordable! Why not? Makes sense!!!
