of their adopted six-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty via an attorney Friday, as court documents allege abusive treatment leading up to the girl's death, including her being kept in a dog cage to stop her searching for food.
An affidavit in support of an arrest warrant for Lehua Kalua filed Friday in Family Court of the First Circuit in Hawaii describes the gruesome conditions police are investigating. The sibling said Ariel "was in the bathroom in a dog cage, duct tape on her mouth and nose, and she didn't wake up," the documents allege.
The sibling told police the adopted father was just pretending to have COVID-19, saying they "knew Isaac was pretending" because they thought he took off work to help Lehua Kalua "to get rid of the stuff...evidence," the document says.
