Mr Wieland swam roughly 48 kilometres today."We've had such a tough two years with the ongoing lockdown and we've had some great people take their lives over the years," Mr Wieland said.
"It's nothing compared to what they have to go through so this is for them, for all you guys finding it tough."Friends and family came to support Mr Wieland during the swim.In 2017, he became the youngest Australian male to swim the English Channel, which is a 33-kilometre endeavour. "I gave myself about two years to prep for that, you know it was just kind of a dream since I was 12 and I made it happen.""I thought I'll just give myself a bit of a challenge, swim every morning, every afternoon, pump in about 65 kilometres a week."It took Mr Wieland more than 10 hours to complete the swim.
