KUALA LUMPUR: Scammers are misusing my image to sell products, says Datuk Seri Michael Chong.

"I do not endorse any health products and any on the market with those claims are fake goods," he said in a statement Wednesday .

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head said his likeness had been misused, adding that it was a common tactic by scammers to use images of public figures to sell products. "Their methods are extremely irresponsible and immoral. This is because those products are not certified by the Health Ministry and contain unknown ingredients. The supposed advert showed Chong promoting a product for eye diseases. Chong is adamant that these products were detrimental to users.

"They would rather spend money on these unknown products and hope those products can help to recover their eyesight. Usually, these customers will end up back at the ophthalmology centre for treatment when they find out these products are unable to cure their disease. "Some victims have contacted me directly and said that it was just plain tea. This is wrong," he said.
