Millions of Americans struggle to afford dental care, including many who have insurance. Lenders are seeing a niche but lucrative financing market.

Linda Stultz learned last fall that she needed a $1,100 dental crown, but she didn’t have the money.

So Ms. Stultz instead financed the treatment with CareCredit, a credit card offered by Synchrony Financial for healthcare and pet expenses. She first learned about the card from her veterinarian’s office during a visit for her cat, Tinky.

We must remove insurance companies from the direct involvement in patient care. Their role is to manage risk, not my health. My Physcian is the one who needs to manage my health. When we restore proper roles in the system we have taken the 1st step to controlling costs.

I have never had a dentist tell me what a procedure is worth to the open market. They only want to tell you what the net amount due will be after insurance. And they never provide an invoice showing detailed info - only a summary stmt. crooked.

The insurance is a joke. If you take the basic services that are no charge to the insured & price them at market rather than listed value they equal the premiums paid in.

Just want to say a very big thank you to Mrs lisamiaBTC and her company platform for their transparency, I had doubts at first but seeing I got paid I deemed it necessary to share with the general public and to let them know that you can be truly trusted..thank you so much.

'Lenders spot yet another way to separate Americans from their money.' There, fixed it.

this is terrible news

Why are we charged so much? For example, to cure a cavity filling, the cost is less than $50 in any LATAM country and in USA it can go easily to $250, or root canal up to $2,150 with insurance Dentist, schoolofdentistry, dentistry, Healthwatch2021,

I get all my work done in México 🇲🇽 I was quoted $28k thousand dollars in the US same or better work in Mexico $1500 like the dentist said “it’s all easy procedural work not brain surgery”

Like in France most people don't go to dentist or ophthalmologist.

In the 60s the family dentist didn't want to deal with 2 children, so just pulled our 2 FRONT teeth. At the dentist for the rest of our lives. 20s we ended up with a bridge. Now with insurance, they need to be replaced. $10,470, after ins $7,000

Literally they know we’re all not wealthy then they hate us people have to start coming in giant mobs and fighting DC you for real because they are laughing at us and I think we’re garbage

This is the reason I went to Costa Rica. Saved over 15k on the same procedure

If this is capitalism, we need a new option, NOW.

In America, healthcare is always all about the money — Americans’ health be damned.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had Medicare for all instead of businesses trying to profit from health? How much does it cost for a fire fighter to put out your house?

I get all of my major dental work done in Brazil, excellent care at a fraction of the cost.

In a normal country this should be paid by national health service.

Capitalism at its best, which is pretty bad... especially if you have toothache I guess....

If only there were a way of ensuring everyone had access to dental care …

I'm one of those people. I need implants, but need to upgrade my dentures first. Hundreds of dollars for that, then thousands for the implants!!!

There’s an important side note in this article that warrants more attention - the lady that has Medicare Advantage, but can’t find a dentist who accepts it. Think about that, Medicare-eligible people, before you make the switch.

Get them done in Mexico. Cheaper and good dental work is actually provided here. Ask ChrisLandauUSA

Hey it’s really messed up that people can’t get basic dental care without going broke but hey here’s how this niche new industry can make tons of money taking further advantage of people who are already struggling!

It’s INSANE
