Some of Melbourne's richest areas are among the least vaccinated in Victoria, figures show, with the trend leaving local doctors concerned about what is to come.

Under Victoria's current rules, an exemption or proof of full vaccination is required to work in many industries, enter restaurants and even attend large indoor gatherings.

A six-month exemption can also be issued to people with acute symptoms of "long COVID", or to those with an "acute major medical condition", such as recovery in hospital from major surgery. Monday's data showed 81.1 per cent of Stonnington residents had received one vaccine dose, while 76.3 per cent were double-jabbed.

Dr Danchin said some younger people were yet to be convinced that vaccines were safe, and blamed misinformation that had spread through some community groups. "These are individuals that believe that if they are healthy and they eat well, that they won't get infected with COVID."She believes authorities need to do more to understand why there has been reluctance by some to take the vaccine.
