The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is already processing a portion of the ₱20-billion worth of unpaid claims to hospitals amid plans of some health institutions to cut ties with the state health insurer, a spokesperson of the agency said Friday., PhilHealth spokesperson Shirley Domingo explained the status of the payment scheme following allegations of delayed settlement of claims.
Domingo explained that they are already trying to speed up the process and will soon release the next wave of payments via the. This refers to payment of 60% of the total applicable healthcare facility receivables, with the remaining 40% to be disbursed only after the full compliance of these facilities with existing claims processing requirements.
She also noted that around 5,000 hospitals claims are still subject to investigation by their fact-finding office.
