BREAKING: Victoria’s health authorities are preparing for a surge in hospitalisations and have announced $307 million in urgent funding for hospitals and ambulances as the state leaps out of COVID19 restrictions. covid19vic

High vaccination rates have kept the state’s caseload and hospital admissions below modelling provided by the Burnet Institute, but a surge in cases is still expected and 1100 to 1300 COVID-19 patients could be in hospital by late December to early January.

The funding includes $42 million to employ another 150 staff to help assist COVID-19 patients to stay at home if they can, and will include home oxygen units to monitor their health at home.

Too too late it's been 2 years and you try to fix it now,get real stop the Spin.

About bloody time how does it take the disaster state so long to realise they need to invest in hospitals and ambulances?

$307M for Victorian Health Industry & affiliates while our government offers $5BN for foreign health practitioners, not Doctors.I have heard first hand how much financial help they need & instead have been told to bare it. A huge political scam that we all now swim in the muck of

HkarterKarter So have you mentioned the 1 in 5 new infections in covidvic are in children under the age of NINE?

Piss poor planning promotes piss poor performance. Previous exercising of the states health plan identified shortfalls associated with the lack of surge capacity. The horse has well and truly bolted Dan.

Too little, too late! Instead of trying to pass legislation that will reap our democratic rights away, concentrate on planning ahead. Remember it was Andrew's that said, 'we are preparing for the worst', well you should have prepared for this 2 years ago....

The gross incompetence and narrow minded thinking of these elected and non elected political officials is off the scale

Any funding for GPS to keep patients out of hospital? Because good luck otherwise.

Is that in addition to the extra $1.2B and 4000 ICU beds Comrade Dan promised 18 months ago?

Is this on top of the announcement last year for the 4000 icu beds? These guys just announce stuff and never deliver, or overspend like drunken sailors.. can’t trust any of them.. from both sides

Yeah right! Just like the 4,000 ICU beds that were 'announced' Who actually believes them any more? 🙄

Where does Andrews get the money from, the tax payers who don’t have it? He’s driven the economy to its worst ever depth and all major infrastructure projects are billions over budget. Typical Labour financial management, all care no responsibility, someone else will fix it.

They promised us 4000 extra beds with an extra $1.3bill last year which never happened. No faith this incompetent lot will deliver on anything😖

18 months too late. Think of all the banned elective surgery which would not now be backlog if they’d acted in a more timely manner

on top of the b1.4 never seen. More smoke and mirrors from Dan’s labour
