National Mental Health Commission CEO Christine Morgan says changing the language around mental health issues and intervening early will be key in the government’s new strategy to tackle kids’ mental health problems.
“This is really saying, firstly, let’s change the language away from a medical diagnosis and talk about their mental health and wellbeing, let’s look at them in the setting of families and communities, education, as well as health.“Predominantly, it’s about focusing in on the mental health and wellbeing of our little ones.”
