THE Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday lamented inadequate health facilities for the management of patients with cholera.
This was as the death toll in the country hit 3,057 and a total of 88,563 cases within the space of nine months. According to the centre, in an epidemiological report obtained by our correspondent in Abuja, other challenges such as inadequacy of cholera vaccine and inadequate trained personnel across states have also slowed down the management of cholera cases.
In the breakdown of fatalities, the report stated that Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Sokoto recorded the highest case fatalities with 255; 312; 423; 220; 382 deaths respectively. According to the report, Zamfara, Yobe, Niger, Kebbi, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau, FCT, Nasarawa, Gombe and Delta accounted for 157; 112; 309; 279; 164; 86; 20; 77; 55; six and 30 deaths.
