Premier Gutwein to hand over portfolios and shift focus to his health

Tasmania's Premier has attributed his recent health crisis to overwork and will hand over several portfolios to colleagues in order to take better care of himself in future.Mr Gutwein will redistribute his portfolios as he balances his health and work commitmentsMr Gutwein became unwell before a Cabinet meeting on Monday and was admitted to hospital

"Basically, after working 46 days straight, which culminated in the finalisation and delivery of the budget, it's as simple as this — my body's not a machine. I hit the wall and I was quite unwell."and had a barrage of tests, which he said had given him a " complete bill of health". Hospitality minister Sarah Courtney will pick up the Tourism portfolio while the Premier balances his health and work commitments.

I wish Gutwein would stop dumbing Tasmanians down and making them sick. Defunding public health & education has really damaged Tassie when the whole island could be thriving. Lost opportunity to help everyone do better.

I disagree with pretty much all of his party’s views, but Premier Gutwein has steered Tasmania on a solid path through Covid, and I wish him a speedy recovery taspol
