More of Victoria’s COVID-19 cases recorded in the past month have stemmed from schools and childcare centres than any other type of setting, new Health Department data shows.
Of the 176 distinct outbreaks, 41 were in hospitals or other healthcare settings, 39 were in workplaces, 38 were in schools or other educational facilities, nine were at childcare centres and seven were at hospitality or entertainment venues. The fresh breakdown of the outbreak data comes as health authorities inch closer to loosening some of the state’s lockdown restrictions, with Victoriato reach its target of having 70 per cent of the eligible populated vaccinated with one dose of the COVID-19 shot within 14 days.
Mr Andrews said once 70 per cent of the population had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, rules related to travel limits, outdoor exercise and personal training and private real estate inspections would be eased.
kangabella Schools are safe, I cannot be any clearer than that.
We need more of this sort of analysis and a better handle on where it is or isn't spreading, and lighten up on the latter - gatherings in the open air, non contact sports like tennis and golf, and shooting hoops on outdoor basketball courts?
Schools have been closed for weeks! This is utter crap
mormorlady Hey The Age did you like that information that your despicable “editorial” claimed that you weren’t getting from the state government?
Cases entered schools &childcare from unvaccinated adults. Children then spread it to family members. It should be mandatory for all caring for/teaching children to be vaccinated. And if parents were too that would solve family spread too. Children not in hospital, adults are.
End the school term a week early. They’ll get nothing out of it in the last week doing remote learning.
Perhaps that’s why playgrounds were shut.
How many were from Al Taqwa and the childcare centre in Broady?!
