Victorian health authorities will provide an update on the 76 COVID-19 cases recorded on Tuesday. It's expected an announcement on the lockdown extension will be made in coming days. Join Sky News Australia live from 11:30am for the press conference.

On Monday Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton described the Delta outbreak in Victoria as"mostly under control" - but the mystery cases are still concerning for health teams.

"Most of the outbreak is under control, but for those areas that are seeing the mystery cases in particular, Hobsons Bay, Wyndham, and Hume local government areas, we do see continued mystery cases amongst those other linked cases," he said.Prof Sutton continued to stress the importance of coming forward for testing if people experience the most minor symptoms as it will help contract tracers.

He added health teams and the government were still finalising plans as to how long the lockdown would be extended for following Mr Andrews saying there were"too many cases" to consider opening up on Thursday as planned. Mr Andrews announced the state's sixth lockdown set to be extended beyond September 2 as cases continued to rise in the community.
